Nokia 5500 Sport Review

The Nokia 5500 sport is designed to suit a user with an active lifestyle & comes with unique sporting features. The handset has a stainless steel casing which is grey in colour & is shock, dust & water resistant. The durable handset weighs 103 grams & measures 107 x 45 x 18 mm which is compact for the user to carry with them at all times. The phone has a TFT type screen which displays 262k colours & has a 208 x 208 pixel screen resolution. The Nokia 5500 Sport comes with swap keys which allow the user to easily switch between features such as music, phone & sports modes. The phone comes with 64 Mbytes of internal memory & included in the phones kit comes a 64 Mbytes MicroSD™ memory card to expand the phones memory further. The user can expand the phones memory up to 1 Gbyte by using the swappable MicroSD™ memory cards which are available for the phone. The phone will provide 4 hours worth of talk time & up to 270 hours worth of standby time.

The phone comes with an integrated music player which can play music in MP3, AMP, AAC, eAAC+ & WMA music formats. The phone comes with a stereo headset included in the kit so that the user can experience a personal listening experience. The user can use the RealPlayer which is a media player to either play, download or stream music & video. The Nokia 5500 Sport comes with a built in FM radio which allows the user to tune into their preferred radio station whenever they desire. The visual radio feature allows the user to interact with the radio station & gain information which is provided by the radio station. The user can see which song is playing, information on the band or artist who sings the song, vote for a particular song & enter contests provided by the radio station. The visual radio is a totally interactive feature for the user to enjoy. The phone supports polyphonic, MP3, AMR, True Tones, AAC, eAAC+ & MIDI ringtones.

This sport phone comes with a sports diary which allows the user to keep a record of exercise programmes & fitness planning. The sports tests on the phone include a coopers test & biking test. The user can use the speed & distance counter, calories burned counter, stopwatch & steps calculator to assist them with their fitness plan. The Nokia 5500 Sport comes with a tapping command feature which allows the user to receive voice feedback tracking information rather than checking the display for information.

The phone comes with a flight mode which allows the user to operate certain features on the Nokia 5500 Sports whilst aboard an aircraft & in other restricted area. The user can take part in a conference call which allows the user to talk to other contacts on one call, all at the same time & can include up to five contacts per call. The user can use the Nokia push to talk feature which allows the user to talk to a group of contacts by using the push to talk key. The user simply presses & holds down the key to talk to others & on releasing the key the user will be able to hear the other contacts replies. The user can select the handsfree speaker if they are wanting to talk on a call but have the conversation over the phones loud speakers rather than holding the handset & talking through the mouth piece. The handsfree speaker phone allows the user to have a call without using their hands to hold the handset & the call is carried out by using the phones built in speakers & integrated microphone. The phone comes with highly useful voice features which include a voice recorder, voice commands to activate features, voice dialling & speaker independent number dialling (SIND).

The user can keep in contact with others by using the messaging services provides on the Nokia 5500 sport which include text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), email & audio messaging. The user can create, send & receive text or multimedia messages on their phone but the multimedia message allows the user to add photos or video with sound to their text input. The multimedia message can only be sent & receive by other multimedia messaging compatible mobile phone users. The user can enjoy using the email service which allows the user to send & receive attachments in all popular file formats. The phone comes with Nokia Xpress audio messaging which allows the user to send audio messages to compatible mobile phone users. The text to speech feature allows the user to listen to incoming messages which are read out by the Nokia 5500 Sport. The text to speech feature allows the user to listen to messages rather than read them from the phones display & can be a very useful feature for the user.

The user can connect to the World Wide Web by using the XHTML browser & comes with RSS feeds. The user can connect to compatible devices using either a Bluetooth® wireless connection, USB cable or infra red connection. The phone works across a tri band network which will automatically swap between network bands without the user knowing.

The Nokia 5500 Sport comes with a 2 megapixel camera feature which comes complete with a 4 x digital zoom to capture every shot in true detail. The camera comes with user friendly features which include a self timer feature & advanced modes which can take the photo in either still, burst or video mode. The user can adjust the brightness of each photo, adjust the quality of each photo & take shots at night. The video player allows the user to play video in full colour in either a H263 or MPEG4 video format. The user can record & stream video on the Nokia 5500 Sport which can be stored on the phones memory & played over & over again using the video player feature.
